Varietal: Shiraz Pétillant Naturel
Region: McLaren Vale, SA
Winemaker: Lauren Langfield

If you're looking for a fun and fizzy sparkling wine, you'll love the 2023 Orbis Pétillant Naturel. This wine is made from Shiraz grapes grown on a single vineyard ~ naturally fermented and bottled during vintage, giving it a lively and refreshing character. The wine is undisgorged (the excess yeast is not removed) and unfiltered, preserving its natural flavour and slight sediment. The result is a wine that is bright, fruity, and long, with notes of pithy orange, early season raspberries, and freshly picked strawberries.

About the Winemaker

Lauren Langfield is the talented winemaker behind Orbis Wines, a sustainable and regenerative winery from the heart of McLaren Vale, South Australia. She has a degree in Viticulture and Oenology from New Zealand, and has worked in vineyards and wineries throughout New Zealand and Australia.

Lauren has a special interest in organic and biodynamic viticulture, and low-intervention winemaking styles. She has also launched her own wine label, Lauren Langfield Wines, from the 2021 vintage. Lauren makes wines that are fresh, vibrant, and expressive, using both traditional and alternative varieties. She uses natural fermentation and no fining or filtering, to preserve the natural character and flavour of the wine.

Lauren aims to craft vibrant and fruit-forward wines that showcase the distinctive characteristics of each grape variety and the unique attributes of every growing season. Her approach honours the inherent quality of the fruit, allowing the vineyard to influence the resulting wine styles.
