Jo Irvine
About the winemaker
Jo Irvine, a second-generation winemaker, has been crafting wines since the early 90s. Following in the footsteps of her father, Jim Irvine, Jo’s journey began after she made the move from her career in nursing to winemaking.
In 2017, Jo and her partner Peter established Levrier Wines, focusing on capturing the essence of some of the forgotten varietals of the Barossa Valley, such as the Cabernet Franc and Merlot. She named the brand after her other love in life, greyhounds. Levrier is french for greyhound, and pronounced as ‘Lev-re-air’.
Jo’s wines are celebrated for their texture, elegance, and expression of place. Her sparkling Meslier Brut Rosé is extremely rare as it is the only single varietal Meslier Rosé produced in the world that we are aware of at this time. Jo's commitment to winemaking is reflected in every bottle, connecting the artistry of viticulture with the science of winemaking. Her age-worthy wines are a true reflection of her love for the craft, ensuring that every drop tells a story.
