2021 Rocco di Carpeneto ‘Aur-Oura’ Dolcetto

Lidia Carbonetti swapped the hustle and bustle of Milan’s financial district for the enchanting hills and vineyards of Alto Monferrato. Fuelled by a newfound passion for viticulture, Lidia returned to academia to earn a Master’s degree in winemaking. Today, she is at the helm of the vineyard’s rejuvenation, producing wines that beautifully capture the essence of the Ovada region.

At Rocco di Carpeneto, Lidia and her partner, Paolo Baretta, are dedicated to preserving local grape varieties. Their organically nurtured vineyards are home to Barbera, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Albarossa, and Cortese, some of which have roots dating back to the 1950s. Under Lidia’s meticulous supervision, the grapes are hand-harvested at peak ripeness and carefully transported to the winery.

In the winery, a masterpiece designed by Lidia for her Master’s thesis, the grapes undergo natural fermentation. The process is minimally invasive, with each step meticulously planned to ensure the integrity of the wine. The wines are fermented and matured in vessels specifically chosen to enhance their unique characteristics.
