Amelia Nolan
About the winemaker
Amelia Nolan is the winegrower and managing director of Alkina, a biodynamic vineyard and winery in the Barossa Valley. Amelia has a passion for organic farming and terroir-driven wines, working closely with renowned soil expert Pedro Parra and winemaker Alberto Antonini to craft expressive and elegant wines from the diverse polygons (sites in the vineyard) of Alkina. With over a decade of experience in the wine industry in Europe, she returned to her home in South Australia to join the Alkina project in 2015, backed by billionaire Argentinian vintner Alejandro Bulgheroni.
Amelia oversees the 43 hectares of certified organic and biodynamic vines, as well as the winemaking process that involves fermenting the hand-picked fruit in Georgian qvevri and Italian amphorae. Everything she does at the winery is designed to protect the integrity of the fruit.
