About the Winemakers
Sarah Marrocco + David Bowley

Vinteloper is owned by Winemaker David Bowley and Artist Sharon Hong, who took ownership of their Adelaide Hills estate in 2018. On December 20th, 2019 - with only 2 years under their belts - horrific bushfires ravaged the Adelaide Hills. 95% of the Vinteloper vines, and David + Sharon's home, was lost.

From the destruction, Bowley and the team saw an incredible opportunity to rebuild, but with the benefit of experience enabling them to do it smarter and better. They had success cutting the vines down to the ground, regrowing from their root systems, which has meant they were able to avoid pulling out the established 25-year-old root systems.

Winemaker Sarah Marrocco joined team Vinteloper in 2021 to assist in the vineyard recovery. With a background in business management, Sarah went back to uni in 2017 to become a Winemaker. Since making that life-changing decision, Sarah has worked in a variety of wineries in Sonoma Valley (USA), Yarra Valley, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills.

Since the fires in 2020, Vinteloper has progressed in leaps and bounds. They prioritise Regenerative Agriculture - whereby non-vineyard area is divided into 14 small pastures and 3 dedicated biodiversity sanctuaries. With the help of a stable of goats for grazing, this helps manage and track grazing to the benefit of the soil and environment - a cornerstone of Regenerative Agriculture.
