The team at VS&B are passionate about producing organic and sustainable wines with minimal intervention, allowing the vintage variations to shine through. The 2023 Syrah is the product of a cold and late 2023 growing season. Whole berry fermentation to retain aroma and tannins, it's built cool spice and florals that typify Thorley Syrah, combining with red and blue fruits and savoury characters more specific to the vintage.

The 2023 Syrah is all about elegance and structure with delicate floral flavours, sour cherry and black tea with a touch of peppery spice. Delicate, smooth and very very moreish, everyone has LOVED this wine so far this month!

About the winemakers
Tessa Brown + Jeremy Schmölzer

Tessa Brown is a viticulturist and winemaker who runs Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown with her partner Jeremy Schmölzer, an architect. Together, they planted their vineyard, Thorley, in the highest part of the Beechworth GI in 2014 and 2015. They sourced grapes from different areas, such as Beechworth, the King Valley, and the Alpine Valleys while they wait for their own vines to mature. Every one of their wines is made with hand-picked fruit.

Tessa works with native and international varieties, such as chardonnay, riesling, nebbiolo and shiraz, and produces wines that reflect the unique sites and soils of Beechworth and the King Valley. She is passionate about biodynamic farming, minimal intervention winemaking and high altitude viticulture.
