A very charming Chablis indeed. 100% Chardonnay from 38-year-old vines in Courgis, just south of Chablis. It's all the good stuff... citrus zest, peach, a soft, salty sea breeze that lingers on the palate, balanced with something sweet, quince, peach perhaps. Ancient Kimmeridgian soils, layered with fossilised oyster shells lend a flinty minerality that holds everything together. Just delicious.

About the Winemaker
Clotilde Davenne | Domaine Clotilde Davenne

If anyone knows Chablis, it’s Clotilde Davenne. She's a true force in the region, having been making wine there since 1989. Learning under Chablis great, Jean-Marc Brocard, Clotilde branched out on her own in 2005... exploring Beaujolais reds and California bubbles before settling comfortably into the whites of Burgundy. She farms her vineyards naturally, avoiding chemicals, and lets her wines express their terroir without interference. A real commitment to purity and the kind of winemaking I absolutely love.

What started as a tiny 1.9-hectare plot of Petit Chablis has blossomed into a 30-hectare love letter to Burgundy. A patchwork if you will of fossil-studded Kimmeridgian soils and limestone pockets of Sauvignon Blanc, keeping things refreshingly old-school with sustainable farming, hand-harvesting, and natural fermentation.
