Varietal: Chardonnay
Region: Stellenbosch, RSA

This is a restrained and saline Chardonnay, opening with pear and citrus, closely followed by lemon zest, fennel fronds, and sea spray. A winner for the textural white category! The geographic and climatic diversity of the Stellenbosch region allows winemakers to produce wines with notable depth, balance, and character, and we love to see it!

About the Winemakers

Jeanine and Mick Craven are a wife and husband team who share a passion for making site-specific and honest wines. They met in 2007 while working as cellar hands in Sonoma, California, and since then they have travelled the world to learn and taste as much as they could. In 2011, they settled in Jeanine's hometown of Stellenbosch, South Africa, where they founded Craven Wines.

Jeanine and Mick work with native grape varieties, such as Chenin Blanc, Pinot Gris and Syrah, and source their fruit from single vineyard sites that reflect the unique terroir of the region. They practice biodynamic farming and minimal intervention in the winery, using only natural yeasts, no additives and old oak barrels. Their wines are expressive, elegant and pure, showcasing the diversity and potential of Stellenbosch.
