About the Winemakers
Janelle De Gabriele and Rhen Dodd are the team behind Ephemera Wines, a project that aims to capture the fleeting moments of nature and terroir in a bottle. Based in the Yarra Valley, Janelle and Rhen source grapes from organically grown vineyards in Victoria, with a preference for varietals that suit the region and express their personality.
Their winemaking approach is minimal intervention, relying on natural fermentation, seasoned barrels, and no fining or filtering. They also experiment with skin contact and whole bunches to add complexity and texture to their wines. Janelle and Rhen are passionate about making wines that are vibrant, refreshing, and easy to drink, with a touch of funk and flair.
