Varietal: Pinot Noir
Region: Central Otago, NZ
Winemakers: Sarah Adamson + Greg Lane

The 2023 Scout Central Otago Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard wine from the renowned Muirkirk vineyard in Bannockburn, one of Central Otago’s most celebrated Pinot Noir regions. The vineyard is organically farmed, with Clone 5 Pinot Noir vines planted in loamy soils over deep layers of clay and gravelly schist. Good things! Hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented, it spent 30 days on skins before being pressed and aged for 11 months in French oak barriques. The result is a wine bursting at the seams with bright red fruit, silky tannins, and a vibrant energy - an unfiltered and true expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir.

About the Winemakers
Sarah Adamson + Greg Lane | Scout Wines

Scout Wines is a New Zealand-based winery founded by winemakers Sarah Adamson and Greg Lane. The duo focuses on sourcing exceptional fruit from some of the country’s most renowned vineyard sites, crafting wines that express purity, energy, and a strong sense of place. With a commitment to organic farming and minimal intervention, Scout Wines highlights the distinct characteristics of each vineyard while embracing a hands-off approach in the cellar.

Sarah Adamson, originally from the South of New Zealand, found her passion for winemaking through her parents' love of wine. After briefly studying science and law, she pivoted to viticulture, drawn to the combination of science, nature, and craftsmanship. Her favorite part of winemaking is blending - bringing together different parcels to create a cohesive, expressive final wine. Alongside co-founder Greg Lane, she has built Scout Wines into a producer known for precision and vibrancy, crafting wines that celebrate New Zealand’s diverse terroirs.
